MEN FASTER THAN SOUND

Captured in front of the SR-71 Blackbird, this image shows the pilots who operated beyond the limits of speed, altitude, and heat. At over Mach 3 and above 80,000 feet, the aircraft turned air into friction and friction into fire — and these men flew it routinely.

They weren’t chasing fame or records. They were trusted with missions that relied on precision, discipline, and silence. Their pressure suits weren’t for show — they were survival equipment, sealing them into an environment closer to space than Earth.

The fastest aircraft ever built.

The men who proved it could be flown.
